BEFORE ANYTHING HAPPENS
BEFORE ANYTHING HAPPENS
A theatrical documentary about a woman and her self-invented fears. In the harsh light, before the ever-watchful eye of the camera, she prepares herself for an interview. But in her mind, she is standing at her own front door.
Always being chased, always chasing, by persistent, relentless thoughts.
She wants to run, but she is running into nothingness. She is running for nothing. Sweating, muscles aching, eyes shut tight, she runs into nothingness, for nothing.
Always being chased, always chasing, by persistent, relentless thoughts.
Seven times three, she pulls the door handle.
A tense, darkly comic journey into the mind of someone living with OCD.
About the makers
Zwoll&Mol, a duo with a shared love for the absurd and the poetic. Rick Wardenier (Zwolle) and Antonia Keersmaekers (Mol, BE) met while studying Theatre Education at the Amsterdam University of the Arts. Last year, they made their debut at the Fringe Festival with I WOULD RATHER FLY THAN DIE. As makers, they push each other to the extreme through physical improvisations in which they themselves take the stage, interwoven with musical interludes. The rural landscapes of Overijssel fused with a Belgian frietkot. What you can expect from Zwoll&Mol is laughter and tears, expect the unexpected. A blend of performance, music, and theatre.
