Zone2Source presents an exhibition which explores electricity as a living network through works by Sunjoo Lee, Adriana Knouf, Claire Williams and Ryan Jordan, in which technology, ecology and ritual become intertwined.
Circuits and Ceremonies takes Sunjoo Lee’s long-term artistic research project Electric Garden as starting point. We began the collaboration late 2025 with a series of workshops on mud battery making at Zone2Source together with Fiber Festival, where an evolving installation under the title of Garden of Mnenomics* was first developed and presented earlier this year. Zone2Source invited the artist to continue to explore the implications of her project further through engagement with the work of fellow artists who equally consider electricity not as an invisible unlimited source of energy but as a living and relational process. Presented in the centre of the glass pavilion and growing outwards, works by Adriana Knouf, Claire Williams and Ryan Jordan will engage in direct dialogue with the Garden of Mnenomics through installations, research and workshop experiments.
Using microbial fuel cells, which generate power through the metabolic processes of soil bacteria, the Garden of Mnenomics becomes an ecosystem where microbes, plants, insects, and minerals coexist while emitting small currents of electricity. Devices powered by the garden are designed to adapt to the slow, variable and unpredictable currents of the microbes, questioning the speed and extractive logic of industrial energy systems and encouraging reflection on degrowth, reciprocity, and ecological coexistence. What happens when electricity is not generated and consumed, but cultivated, nurtured and shared? Inspired by practices such as gardening and fermentation, in this exhibition technology is approached as process of attention, reciprocity and ecological co-existence.
For Circuits & Ceremonies, this research is further expanded through collaborations with artists with whom Sunjoo Lee’s work resonates. Spreading and growing in the way gardens do, Electric Garden invites reflection on degrowth, regenerative technology and other ways in which people can relate to energy and the living environment. The artworks of Claire Williams take the form of woven antennas, glass sculptures filled with plasma or devices that sense the invisible. Data of radio telescopes and scanners materialise themselves in knitted stitches, sound vibrations or through luminous plasma. Adriana Knouf attunes herself to electromagic frequencies, studies the interferences of temporalities future, past, and present, and experiments with entities bio, silico, litho, cosmic. Ryan Jordan conducts experiments in derelict electronics, possession trance, retro-death-telegraphy and hylozoistic neural computation. Remainders from his workshop Derelict Electronics, in which amplifiers are built out of rocks will be shown as circuits which are both occult and geological, amplifying signals as well as noise.
Through joint experiments, workshops and exchanges between the artists, new connections emerge between matter and meaning, technology and magic, science and ritual. The exhibition explores how artistic ideas can influence, infect and transform one another, and how collective knowledge can arise from impure and unexpected connections. The title Circuits & Ceremonies refers both to electrical circuits and to the actions, rituals and forms of collaboration that arise around energy. Here, electricity appears not only as a technical phenomenon, but also as something mysterious: a force that moves through bodies, organisms, materials and communities.
Organized together with Fiber, workshops in which participants learn and unlearn about energy together provide a space for experimentation and discussion on ecological computing, regenerative technologies and alternative energy systems. Through these encounters, Electric Garden continues to evolve into a network of gardens, artists and research practices.

About the artists
*Sunjoo Lee(Dutch/Korean)*
is an interdisciplinary artist based in the Netherlands, working at the intersection of art, technology and ecology, based in the Netherlands. She is fascinated by pushing the boundaries of the use of electronics and digital tools beyond human interests. Her works explore themes such as tools for the ‘more-than-human’, emergence, biomimicry, future forms of symbiosis and permacomputing. Sunjoo frequently collaborates with biologists, ecologists and engineers to develop artistic research and create multimedia installations that promote hybridity and collaboration between the biosphere and the technosphere.
