'I Will Soften Every Edges' - Kim van Norren

For Kim van Norren (1980, the Netherlands), painting starts with the search for a text in which she can distinguish a personal experience. Form, color and text are her three main ingredients while the latter gains a potency which emerges from its confluence with the image. She finds her words in song lyrics, among others, granting them a whole new meaning once lifted from their context. Van Norren was a resident at De Ateliers in the Netherlands. She won the Royal Award for Modern Painting in 2010 and the Sieger White Award in 2014. She has exhibited her work at venues such as the Dordrechts Museum, Museum de Fundatie, Rijksmuseum Twenthe and Stedelijk Museum Schiedam in the Netherlands. Her work is held in various public and private collections, among which the Caldic Collection in the Netherlands.
