Vrij Denken, of: hoe spreek jij je uit
Vrij Denken, of: hoe spreek jij je uit
The exhibition ‘Vrij Denken’ (Free Thinking) that will on show at Luther Museum explores how the ideas of Luther and Erasmus changed the world. Their clashing approaches, radical reform versus moderate dialogue, serve as a powerful lens to view today’s debates on free speech, authority, and spirituality. The exhibition confronts visitors with one central question: ‘How do you speak up? ’Highlighting this theme, contemporary artists Annabelle Binnerts (1995) and Lennart Lahuis (1986) present new works that center on the power of language. Binnerts responds to the historic manuscripts in the exhibition with a custom made installation in the monumental hallway of the museum, while Lahuis presents a ‘language sculpture’ created as a weather vane in collaboration with a traditional ornamental blacksmith.
