Opening: I think. I don’t. I do
What began as an intimate admiration for a letter exchanged between Sol LeWitt and Eva Hesse found its way into a manual for what an exhibition can be: a shared condition of wondering, doubting, fearing, hurting, hoping for some easy way out, struggling, grasping, confusing, itching, scratching, mumbling, rumbling, bumbling, grumbling, humbling, stumbling, rambling, gambling, tumbling, scumbling, scrambling, hitching, hatching, bitching, moaning, groaning, horse-shitting, hair-splitting, nit-picking, piss-trickling, nose sticking, ass-gouging, eyeball-poking, finger-pointing, alleyway-sneaking, long-waiting, small-stepping, evil-eyeing, back-scratching, searching, perching, besmirching, grinding…
The exhibition gathers works that operate through, around, against, or simply within this condition. They don’t necessarily resolve anything. They are attempts to get somewhere.
Participating artists are, among others: Olga Balema, Win McCarthy, Rasmus Nilausen, Ima-Abasi Okon, Tozer Pak, Pipilotti Rist, Ina van Zyl.
