25 Years of Galerie Ron Mandos – a Final Celebration | Geert Mul, Renie Spoelstra & Ron van der Ende

To mark the conclusion of our anniversary year, Galerie Ron Mandos is delighted to invite you to three extraordinary exhibitions featuring artists who have been part of the gallery since its inception. All based in Rotterdam—the city where Ron Mandos opened his gallery 25 years ago—these artists each bring a unique vision to the theme of landscape across diverse styles and mediums. Their works explore nature, technology, memory, and beyond, celebrating the creative spirit that has defined our gallery since its founding.

Festive Opening:
The public opening will take place on Saturday, 23 November from 15:00 to 18:00 at Galerie Ron Mandos. We are honored that Wim Pijbes, director of Stichting Droom & Daad in Rotterdam, will officially open the exhibition.

Geert Mul: Gardens of Event
Geert Mul is renowned for his pioneering approach to media art, employing technology to interrogate the interplay between data, memory, and place. Over the years, he has produced works that prompt viewers to consider how digital culture shapes our understanding of time and space.

In this exhibition, Mul turns his focus to the concept of landscape. Drawing on his profound knowledge of media history, he explores the confluence of digital and physical realms. His work invites reflection on how technology informs our perception of nature, offering an intriguing lens on contemporary existence.

Ron van der Ende: Alluvial Plain
Ron van der Ende is a sculptor celebrated for his relief works constructed from salvaged wood. In his practice, he transforms everyday materials into three-dimensional landscapes, articulating his fascination with the built environment and organic form.

Working out of Rotterdam, Van der Ende frequently investigates themes of time, history, and the imprint of humanity on the natural world. This exhibition signals a new chapter in his oeuvre, marked by a deepened engagement with landscapes and their layered meanings. His presentation encourages contemplation of the fragile balance between human ambition and the slow, enduring rhythms of nature.

Renie Spoelstra: Through the Clouds
Renie Spoelstra is acclaimed for her monumental charcoal drawings, which accentuate the mysterious, atmospheric qualities of landscapes. Her practice draws inspiration from untouched and remote terrains, from the rugged coastlines of the Netherlands to the mist-shrouded highlands of Peru. In her art, Spoelstra captures the delicate interplay of light, shadow, and motion. For this exhibition, she focuses on fleeting instances in which nature reveals its beauty—through drifting clouds and continuously shifting light. The result is a timeless, deeply resonant experience.
