V2_ poster history – Exhibition

To showcase V2_’s history since its foundation in 1981, this exhibition features the design of the many books published by V2_, the dozens of brochures, the famous manifesto, and the many catalogues and posters designed by co-founder Joke Brouwer over a period of 45 years.

A continuous stream of examples on a large video screen in the Green Room, downstairs next to the entrance of V2_, shows the wide range of media used over the years. The evolution from hand-painted posters to the early digital brochures and catalogues, to the high-end book designs, demonstrates the constant mutual influence between pre-digital and post-digital design.

Together all the images reflect the idiosyncratic style that characterizes V2_’s direct, rough and experimental approach to exhibitions and programs.
