Art Talk | Finissage
Art Talk | Finissage
This Friday, 20 December, from 16:00 to 18:00
Join us at Lijnbaansgracht 314 for the finissage of Flux at Bradwolff & Partners, featuring works by Ruta Butkute, and the closing of Release, the solo exhibition by Matea Bakula at Lumen Travo. The two neighbouring galleries present exhibitions that enter into a compelling dialogue.
Bart Rutten, artistic director of the Centraal Museum, will open the event with an introduction exploring the connections between these two artists. This is the final exhibition of the year, followed by festive Christmas drinks to mark the occasion.
Ruta Butkute (Bradwolff & Partners) combines sculpture with performance. In works such as Fold #1 (2024), her fluid forms in ceramic and metal appear to hover, an interplay of vulnerability and strength. The result is a dynamic choreography of materials that invites the viewer to experience the work physically.
Matea Bakula (Lumen Travo) transforms the gallery floor into an organic landscape with her installations. Hand-formed spheres of recycled egg carton evoke both the simplicity of harvested crops and the vastness of planetary systems. Her work investigates the tension between the natural and the artificial, raising questions about cycles, connections and transformation.
Close the year with us – we look forward to welcoming you!
The work of Norman Dilworth (1931, Wigan, UK – 2023, Lille, France) is on view in the rear space of the gallery. Renowned for his geometric sculptures that invite viewer interaction, Dilworth is a key figure in abstract art. His work is included in prestigious collections, including the Stedelijk Museum, Tate and the Kröller-Müller Museum. In 2019 he was awarded the Peter C. Ruppert Prize for Concrete Art.
