Locations: Stigter van Doesburg, Caroline O’Breen, Martin van Zomeren, KERSGALLERY, Depth of Field
Stigter van Doesburg: Maaike Schoorel, This way
Every day Schoorel cycles from home to her studio, past a stretch of canal, sunlight on a stone, flowers along the bank, litter. Each time she sees something different, or sees the same thing differently. What she captures of the city stays in motion: the longer you look, the more appears, and disappears again.
Caroline O’Breen: Milah van Zuilen, LEAVES
Van Zuilen approaches nature as a shared system of which we are an intrinsic part. Through long-term observation, collecting and fieldwork, she maps a single plant species or gathers all plant material within a defined area. Her collages stay closely tied to the places where the materials were found, bringing art and ecology together.
Martin van Zomeren
A group exhibition with Job Koelewijn, Alexandra Leykauf and Robbert Weide.
KERSGALLERY: Where the Light Remembers
Paintings by Amy Wright and Yeon Kyung Park alongside ceramics by Vika Mitrichenko explore the relationship between the visible world and the inner life. A garden, a still life, an everyday object: through our attention they become intertwined with memory, desire and the times we live in. Beauty here holds a particular tension, resting our gaze on something whose continued existence is uncertain.
Depth of Field: Under the Surface
Historical photography meets the research photography of René Gerritsen, including early microscope images, X-rays, infrared and ultraviolet photographs. Made to investigate and reveal rather than to be art, these images often turn out to be strikingly beautiful. The exhibition asks how an image can be evidence, research, documentation and something to look at for its own sake.
