Celebrating the 750th anniversary of the city of Amsterdam and the second decade of The Merchant House (TMH) dedicated to art in the city, we present Collecting I: Bridges. This exhibition explores the transformative qualities of art collecting as an open-ended conversation between collectors, artists, artworks, galleries, art professionals, and the public.

At its core are works by Tracey Emin, Barbara Hepworth, Banksy, Damien Hirst, Julian Opie, Bridget Riley, James Rosenquist, Margret Wibmer, and TMH artists from the collection of Christopher Springham FRSA, a London- and Amsterdam-based collector and sustainability entrepreneur.

The Christopher Springham FRSA Collection, recognized as an 'Important British Collection' by Sotheby’s, encompasses American Pop Art and 1980s–1990s abstraction, Young British Artists (YBAs), and contemporary and new media artists with a strong presence in Amsterdam and London, including: Tracey Emin, Brian Eno, Banksy, André de Jong, Elisabeth Frink, Barbara Hepworth, Damien Hirst, Mary Sue, Joan Miró, Robert Motherwell, Julian Opie, Bridget Riley, James Rosenquist, Frank Stella, Elsa Tomkowiak, Camille Walala, Ai Weiwei, and Margret Wibmer.
