Casco Art Institute: Working for the Commons presents its artistic program for autumn 2026, titled The Land School: an exhibition and continuously evolving collaboration between two collectives: 4Siblings from Amsterdam and itacateca from Mexico City. Their shared vision of land, approaching it as a form of pedagogy focused on ecological regeneration and collective making practices, forms the core of this project.

Their work emerges from direct engagement with soil, plants, and their local surroundings. They create temporary gardens and outdoor interventions inspired by milpa agriculture, where diverse crops and companion plants grow in mutual interdependence.
itacateca is a translocal collective and network that has grown since 2022 through Arts Collaboratory, specifically the AC School at documenta fifteen, and in relation to the lumbung ecosystem. Their practice creates and sustains practical knowledge with a distinct voice at the intersection of food, time, and land, placing reciprocity and translocal solidarity at its heart.
The exhibition presents newly commissioned installations stemming from the closely intertwined practices of both collectives, including 4Siblings' edible labyrinth in Amsterdam Nieuw-West and a joint residency in Mexico this summer, where itacateca's practice is rooted. During this residency, the collectives learn from and work with the ancestral Mesoamerican chinampa agricultural system, delving into the histories of corn. In doing so, they exchange stories, seeds, and artistic methods while jointly developing new works that shape the exhibition.
At the center of the exhibition is the "harvest room", where the practices of both collectives converge and engage in conversation.
