De Ontdekking

Twelve artists present their work under the summer sun at Fort Maarsseveen.

~ opening Sunday 28 June, 12:00–17:30 ~

With De Ontdekking, twelve artists invite you to explore their work amongst the green grass. This summer, the outdoor space of Fort Maarsseveen, part of the Unesco World Heritage Hollandse Waterlinies, transforms into a sculpture garden.

The exhibition explores "discovery" in the broadest sense of the word. The artists place the fort in a new context and invite visitors to pay attention to that which often goes unnoticed. The various works take you back to your childhood, or transport you to today's digital world. The boundary between nature and the man-made world is physically questioned by framing your view, or by freezing objects in time. Some works are monumental and unmissable, while others you discover purely by chance while strolling across the grounds. In this way, the fort itself becomes part of the experience.

On Sunday 26 July we are organizing a fun-filled day: playing outside in the sculpture garden! Various workshops will be given by the artists themselves: foraging, copper working, and soapstone carving. We will also play games at the fort. The activities are drop-in. Keep an eye on our Instagram for more information.

Open daily 10:30–17:30. Poster: Roos Mattijsen (@rroosss).
