Tidal Gatherings #3: Difficult Digestions

Approaching clay as a tidal and migratory material, the third edition of Tidal Gatherings presents Difficult Digestions: being leaky, permeable and porous, a new performance and workshop developed by visual artist, clay and soil researcher Lina Bravo Mora. Both open up the decomposing worlds of mud, using migrating and stationary sediments from various water bodies in the Netherlands.

Performance: Saturday 10 October 2026, 16:00 to 18:00

Somewhere between a lecture performance and a music-poetic incantation, the performance "lands" us in the soil through geological storytelling and deep time. Accompanied by accordionist Luis Gabriel Kammerer Teran, Lina Bravo Mora takes us across different tidal scales, listening closely to the sediments, their memories, stories and inevitable toxicities.

Workshop: Sunday 11 October 2026, 15:00 to 17:00

The following day, the same muds will be used for a writing workshop that invites participants to touch and consult with the different clays, bringing their muddy sensations into words.

Tickets for both are on a sliding scale (€3, €5 or €7.50).

With a sound contribution by Paula Montecinos. In collaboration with Lutkemeerpolder clay, Texel mud, and Waal, Maas and Nederrijn river clay.

Launched in 2024, Tidal Gatherings is an ongoing curatorial project initiated by curator and researcher Chandra Frank in affiliation with If I Can't Dance. Difficult Digestions is made possible by AFK.

Access: the event takes place on the second floor, which has no lift. The historic medical theatre has tiered seating reached by two narrow staircases. There are two gender-neutral toilets on the first floor.
