Fly, from the days I considered leaving | Hyeonkyeong You

Enseoul presents Fly, from the days I considered leaving, a solo exhibition of recent paintings by Hyeonkyeong You. This is the artist’s third solo exhibition at the gallery.

The exhibition brings together a new body of work created in 2025, in which You explores her ongoing engagement with introspection and moments of transition. With a restrained palette and a compositional balance between vigorous brushstrokes and open, breathing spaces, her paintings evoke the moments preceding change—thresholds of reflection, transition, and renewal.

In these works, the artist translates personal contemplations into a refined visual language. Expansive white voids and expressive brushstrokes suggest both absence and presence, creating room for breath, memory, and resolve. Fly, from the days I considered leaving continues You’s exploration of perception and self-awareness, capturing the tension between hesitation, struggle, and awakening—the ongoing cycle of insight and enlightenment that lies at the core of her practice.

Motifs throughout the exhibition include meditating Buddhas, monks, pagodas, and self-portraits—reflections of an inner journey and shifting states of mind.
