The sculptures of Sanne Bax are a reflection on the long-distance walks she takes through nature. She sees nature as a companion; rocks, plants, and animals are fellow travellers. Jessica Skowroneck
Skowroneck grew up in Sweden, and nature has always been very important to her. She uses the landscape as a self-portrait, a metaphor for body and mind in which interior and exterior space converge. This exhibition features new work created in part during Jessica's pregnancy and the birth of her daughter. Motherhood brings about a seismic shift, and everything changes form.

The ceramic works in this exhibition were created last summer during a residency at the Europees Keramisch Werk Centrum. Here, Sanne Bax explored a technique in which she treats clay in the same way as wool in her textile work. This resulted in tree-like creatures partially covered with tufted threads. Clay as a material, a fertile ground from which new forms have emerged.
