From 25 September, the work of Henk Helmantel takes centre stage in a special exhibition at Museum Catharijneconvent: Henk Helmantel. In een nieuw licht. Morren Galleries regularly presents work by Henk Helmantel in its own collection and is organising three guided tours on the occasion of the exhibition.

In the monastery setting of Museum Catharijneconvent, Helmantel's realistic still lifes encounter the finest medieval sculptures from Henk Helmantel's private collection as well as the museum's holdings. Helmantel selected his favourite pieces especially for this exhibition. This interplay between paintings, sculptures, and the cloister building amplifies the stillness that defines his oeuvre. With his keen eye for composition, light, and detail, Helmantel captures beauty in everyday objects.

Three guided tours by Morren Galleries: Helmantel through artists' eyes
In the coming months, the gallery is organising three exclusive guided tours of the exhibition, each led by an artist represented by the gallery: Juane Xue, Victor Muller, and Walter Elst.
Not a conventional museum tour, but an illuminating perspective on Helmantel through the eyes of a fellow artist. What does a painter perceive that we, as viewers, might overlook? From their own artistic practices, each of the three painters casts a different light on his work. The tours last approximately one hour and are deliberately intimate, limited to a maximum of 15 participants. Following the tour, a small presentation featuring work by the artist leading the tour will be on view at the gallery.
