IMPAKT / I AM NOT AN ORACLE – A World Building Exhibition
How do we organize the world around us? And more importantly: what does that do to us? I AM NOT AN ORACLE, curated by Ine Gevers, is an interactive journey through art installations that reflect on the overarching systems structuring our existence – identity, biology, economics, colonialism, climate, technology, religion and politics.
I AM NOT AN ORACLE will not present you with the truth, but invites you to question these overarching systems – and your own assumptions – through artworks that function as playful, at times confronting mirrors. Visitors navigate the exhibition like a game, in which each installation offers its own perspective and challenges you to look at the world – and yourself – through fresh eyes.
At times stimulating, at times liberating – always with the aim of sparking critical thinking and creativity. In doing so, it reveals how deeply systems shape our self-image, and how we might regain agency over them. By the time you leave the exhibition, you will no longer be quite the same person as when you entered.
During the opening of I AM NOT AN ORACLE, an evening of imagination and encounter unfolds. Artist Alla Poppersoni offers interactive tarot readings with the Cyborgeoisie Tarot — a deck merging technology, myth and intuition. Yinzk presents her live performance Letting Go with an incantatory chant that transforms the space. The work The Dig by The School of Mutants is performatively activated, inviting visitors to dig both literally and figuratively: in the sandbox, through stories, and in conversation with one another.
The exhibition features work by Monobanda, Yinzk, Shu Lea Cheang, Patricia Kaersenhout, Cristina Lucas, BBB, The School of Mutants, Shertise Solano and Folkert de Jong.
