In Situ | Rikkert Paauw
Madé van Krimpen proudly presents the solo exhibition In Situ by Rikkert Paauw. The exhibition will officially open during the Festive Gallery Night of Amsterdam Art Week 2025 on Thursday, 22 May, from 17:00 to 21:00.
Rikkert Paauw engages directly with his surroundings. Collecting local objects and transforming them on-site, he fosters a new relationship between the materials and their context. His installations establish a dialogue between material and space, grounded in sustainability: nothing is wasted, everything is given new life.
As an artist, designer, and architect, Paauw repurposes the existing to reshape spaces and objects. His process is considered and purposeful. He translates simple elements into something new, ranging from large-scale installations to domestic pieces, intuitively addressing the ecological challenges of our time.
Without judgment, he allows discarded materials to speak for themselves, subtly revealing the inherent value of everyday things. For his exhibition at Madé van Krimpen verblijft Paauw tijdelijk in Amsterdam, scouting for materials. Inside the gallery, he integrates these directly into new works, making the space itself an integral part of his creative process.
Rikkert Paauw (1982, NL) lives and works in Brussels. He has exhibited in Belgium, Sweden, France, Switzerland, Australia, Austria, and Italy, among other countries.
