Jacco Olivier | Point Nemo

Opening Saturday, 20 September 2025

Galerie Ron Mandos presents Point Nemo, a major solo exhibition by Jacco Olivier. Renowned for his distinctive fusion of painting and animation, Olivier presents works in this exhibition that rank among his most ambitious to date.

The title refers to Point Nemo; the most remote location on Earth. For Olivier, this is both a physical and a symbolic place: a horizon where distance, silence, and imagination converge. His new paintings and video works explore the tension between existing on the edge of the world and remaining connected to inner landscapes.

Olivier transforms paintings into moving images by photographing every stage of the painting process. The resulting animations preserve visible brushstrokes, turning everyday moments into layered reflections on time and perception.

Jacco Olivier has previously exhibited his work at venues including the Venice Biennale, ZKM Karlsruhe, Victoria Miro Gallery in London, and Marianne Boesky Gallery in New York. His work is held in major collections worldwide. In 2019, he was awarded the Jeanne Oosting Prijs for figurative painting.

The opening of Point Nemo will take place on Saturday, 20 September from 14:00 to 17:00 at Galerie Ron Mandos. The artist will be present.
