Uitgelicht: Patz Van der Sloot | Stand van Zaken

From 13 to 23 May, the Uitgelicht wall at Kunstuitleen Utrecht presents Stand van Zaken by Patz Vander Sloot: a return to photography and a snapshot of his current artistic position as an image maker.

After training as a photographer, Patz Vander Sloot worked in fashion photography before shifting his focus toward digital image editing and other visual disciplines such as web design and advertising. Yet one core ambition remained constant: storytelling through imagery.

In late 2023, spurred in part by his studio peers at Huis van Betekenis, he returned to photography. What began with a few images for a group exhibition at Kunstuitleen Utrecht grew into a renewed and dedicated commitment to the medium.

In Stand van Zaken, Patz presents a selection of recent works that stand autonomously while simultaneously forming part of a larger, evolving whole. The images offer a glimpse into his working process over recent years, where influences from painting, illustration, architecture, and cinematography converge in layered compositions and rich color palettes.

Moving between realism and surrealism, his work leaves ample room for interpretation. Meaning remains open-ended, taking shape through the eye of the beholder. Stand van Zaken is not a final destination, but a moment within an ongoing process of inquiry and imagination.

Following the exhibition, the artworks will be available for loan and purchase via Kunstuitleen Utrecht, with interest-free installment payment options.
