Opening expositie Loïs Dalou "*Ruis*"
Ruis is a solo exhibition of drawings and wall sculptures arising from a fascination with miscommunication. The exhibition features antennae and bats—both communicating in ways imperceptible to humans. Bat echolocation lies far beyond the threshold of our hearing, and radio waves cannot be detected by our bodies. For Dalou, they symbolize the impossibility of being fully attuned to everything happening around us. Meanings fly past, yet do not always arrive. Loïs Dalou (1998) is an artist with a background in cultural anthropology and Dutch studies. She draws, writes, and creates sculptures. Her work frequently features human-like animals and animalistic humans that look as though they could bite at any moment. Her lines meander idiosyncratically, at times seeming to take on a life of their own. Through countless dots and strokes, she conjures dancing textures. She draws rich inspiration from unexpected encounters and harbors a profound fascination with miscommunication. Ruis is on view from 3 July to 22 August 2026.
