Room with a View

Anna Ramsair is a visual artist and observer of urban life. Her specific interest in the complexity of modern society within the urban environment was established during her study of Urban Sociology. She makes drawings, paintings and objects in clay in her endless search for form and meaning. The complexity of urban life is apparent in the stratification of her work. In this exhibition, Anna Ramsair demonstrates how she transformed temporary paintings on the window glass of a bridge operator’s hut at the Koninginnebrug (Queen’s Bridge) into an entirely new approach to the city—through the medium of photography. At Westerkadekunst, she presents this transition from painting to photography and, via a live event, reveals her working process—a development that can be followed throughout the duration of the exhibition.
