Taking Root Among the Stars | Müge Yılmaz en Anna Hoetjes

Taking Root Among the Stars, an exhibition presented by Müge Yılmaz and Anna Hoetjes, builds on the legacy of Octavia E. Butler's Parable of the Sower to explore alternative futures and social realities. The exhibition brings together artists and writers who use science fiction to pose critical questions about our society, foregrounding feminist, trans, queer, and decolonial perspectives.

Through dialogue, reflection, and interaction, the exhibition invites audiences to envision a radical, hopeful future. The community programme offers workshops, reading groups, and hands-on sessions that strengthen the connection between speculative literature, art, and activism. Featuring works by AiRich, Black Quantum Futurism, Maartje Folkeringa, Anna Hoetjes, Adriana Knouf, Brittany Nelson, Ada M. Patterson, Sondi, Müge Yilmaz, and Fei Yining.

Taking Root Among the Stars is on view from 22 November 2024 to 2 February 2025 at W139 in Amsterdam.
