Plaarts is a platform for discovering art exhibitions across the Netherlands. We connect art lovers with galleries, museums, and independent artists.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Plaarts, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

You must be at least 16 years old to use Plaarts. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.

These terms work alongside our privacy policy, which explains how we handle your data.

3. Your Account

When you create an account, you choose a type that matches how you'll use Plaarts:

• Regular user: Browse exhibitions, save favourites, write reviews
• Artist: Everything above, plus submit your own exhibitions
• Institution: Manage multiple exhibitions and venue profiles

Your Responsibilities

You're responsible for:

• Keeping your login credentials secure
• Providing accurate information in your profile
• Everything that happens under your account

One account per person, please. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. User-Generated Content

By posting content on Plaarts, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to display, distribute, and promote it as part of the platform. This licence exists so we can actually show your reviews and content to other users, nothing more.

Content you post must not:

• Be defamatory, abusive, or contain hate speech
• Infringe on anyone else's intellectual property
• Contain spam or commercial solicitations
• Be illegal or encourage illegal activity
• Contain misleading or deliberately false information

We can remove content that violates these standards. If you delete your account, your content may be retained in anonymised form for historical purposes, as described in our privacy policy.

5. Exhibition Submissions & Moderation

Artists and spaces can submit exhibitions for listing on Plaarts. All submissions go through an admin review process before they appear on the platform.

Plaarts focuses on exhibitions at galleries, artist-run spaces, and project spaces that support living artists and the local art scene. Submissions that fall outside our editorial focus may be declined.

• We may reject or remove submissions at our discretion
• Approval is not guaranteed, and we're not obliged to give reasons for rejection
• You must have the rights to all content (images, descriptions) you submit
• We may edit listing details for clarity or consistency, but we won't change the substance of your submission without telling you

6. Payments

Plaarts charges a fee to list an exhibition on the platform. Here's how payments work:

• All payments are processed securely by Stripe
• Prices are displayed in EUR
• We may change pricing at any time, but changes won't affect purchases you've already made
• Payment data is handled according to our privacy policy

We never see or store your full card details. Stripe handles that entirely.

7. Intellectual Property

The Plaarts platform

The design, code, and branding of Plaarts are our intellectual property. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute them without permission.

Exhibition data

Some exhibition information is aggregated from public sources. We don't claim ownership of third-party exhibition data.

Your content

As stated in section 4, you retain ownership of the content you create on Plaarts.

8. Acceptable Use

Use Plaarts for what it's made for: discovering and sharing art exhibitions. Don't:

• Scrape or automatically extract data from the platform
• Impersonate other users, artists, or institutions
• Post spam reviews or fake ratings
• Attempt to circumvent security measures or access controls
• Use the platform for any illegal purpose
• Interfere with other users' enjoyment of the service

We may suspend or terminate accounts that engage in any of these activities.

9. Limitation of Liability

Plaarts is provided "as is". We do our best to keep things accurate and running smoothly, but we can't guarantee perfection.

• We're not liable for venue closures, schedule changes, or inaccurate third-party data
• We're not responsible for interactions between users, artists, or institutions
• Our total liability is limited to the amount you've paid to Plaarts in the past 12 months

Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

10. General

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes will be handled by the courts of Amsterdam.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top. For significant changes, we'll notify you via email or a prominent notice on the site. Continued use of Plaarts after changes constitutes acceptance.

Account Termination

You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. We can terminate accounts that violate these terms. When an account is terminated, the data retention rules in our privacy policy apply.

Severability

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining parts stay in effect.
