Atelier Oeverstraat
Atelier Oeverstraat
Atelier Oeverstraat opens its doors for Groot Rotterdams Atelier Weekend 2026 (location 46 on the route map, Rotterdam South). Studios are open Sat 19 Sept and Sun 20 Sept, 12:00 to 18:00. Entry is free with a ticket reserved through GRAW; a voluntary contribution goes to the makers.
The studio comprises two workspaces and an exhibition area. It is housed in a former industrial building, easily recognized by its large green garage door, and is located on the ground floor of a small street branching off Prins Hendrikkade on the western side of the island. A compact and highly functional workspace.
Both artists work independently and each has developed a distinct artistic practice. Portraiture, in all its forms, forms the core of their work. In addition, they continuously explore a wide range of techniques and disciplines, including drawing, collage, Gelli printing, portrait sculpture in clay and bronze, photographic manipulation, graphic art, and more.
The studio also offers classes in portrait drawing and portrait painting, which form an important part of its activities. At present, eight regular students work in two weekly groups. In addition, several students take part in online lessons or workshops. Each year, a major exhibition is organized featuring the work of both artists and their students. Last April, a successful exhibition was held at Galerie Wind, where works were sold for substantial amounts, providing great encouragement to the students.
The artists and students are: Karen Sechocho, Stella van der Walvier-Maris, Annette Botermans, Margreet ’t Hart, Anne Marie de Vin, Ellen Versnel, and Yolanda Libregts.
A special feature of the studio is that these artists and students are present during GRAW as enthusiastic hosts, welcoming visitors and providing information about the studio and its work. This has been a tradition since the studio was founded. The strong sense of community within the group and the wide variety of artistic disciplines make a visit to the studio especially rewarding.
