Keramiekatelier Zoutziedersstraat

Keramiekatelier Zoutziedersstraat opens its doors for Groot Rotterdams Atelier Weekend 2026 (location 78 on the route map, Rotterdam West). Studios are open Sat 19 Sept and Sun 20 Sept, 12:00 to 18:00. Entry is free with a ticket reserved through GRAW; a voluntary contribution goes to the makers.

This is a place where people live and work, where children grow up, and where artists’ studios are housed.

The ceramics studio features the work of four ceramic artists. Marijke de Groot presents colourful porcelain sculptures, each telling its own story. Marie-Jozé van Marrewijk studies fossils, minerals, and objects found by the sea, translating these observations into ceramic forms. Elsbeth Peper works with slip-cast porcelain coloured with oxides, often drawing inspiration from nature and landscapes. She is currently creating a series of jewellery pieces. Arja Hoogstad focuses on vegetables that fall outside the standard cucumber ideal and on the underlying structures found in pruning waste. She discovers unexpected similarities between Himalayan balsam and basalt, or between the bark of the London plane tree and the Mekong Delta. This visual language of nature forms the starting point for her porcelain sculptures.
