DROOMSPEL
DROOMSPEL
Utrecht art from the Jan Gulmans collection, from Agterberg to Zwerver with works by 38 artists
Dreaming away from everyday reality
Made in Utrecht. That applies to every artwork in the exhibition 'Droomspel'. Bringing together prints, paintings, ceramics, and sculptures by a total of 38 artists, this exhibition offers a cross-section of decades of Utrecht art without claiming to be exhaustive. Running through it all is the realm of fantasy, an unmistakable presence in the art of the Dom City.
The collection was assembled by the collector Jan Gulmans, originally from Utrecht. He lived for many years in Curaçao, where he amassed a collection of Caribbean art that will be exhibited at Musea Zutphen in late 2027. Upon returning to the Netherlands, Jan Gulmans turned his focus to Utrecht art, with an emphasis on the world of the imagination in which generations of Utrecht artists have felt at home.
